What we don’t do
NOPECUBE should become a reflex in your own moments, then get out of the way. For a boundary tool, dependence would be a failure. This page lists what we will not build, even if a metric would go up. It is a product decision, not an experiment: no test result, competitor or drop in numbers reopens an item. The list only grows, and every change is dated in the changelog.
Mechanics we will never use
- No streaks, and no streak repair.
- No points, badges, gems or any other virtual currency.
- No leaderboards, no comparison between people and no “X% of users” social proof.
- No single wellbeing, focus or “boundary” score.
- No guilt, shame or loss-framed messages, no sad mascot, and no “you missed”, “you broke” or “you slipped” language.
- No random rewards, surprise boxes or variable reward loops.
- Nothing that dies, fades or sulks, and no group penalties.
- No scarce “emergency exits”, and breaks never become a currency. OPEN is always one movement away, without limit.
- No weekly subscriptions.
- No sales, upgrades, cube promotion or rating prompts at a ritual moment: the NOPE or OPEN movement, the closing bell, the closing or the first boundary screen.
- No mode you cannot cancel and no mode OPEN cannot lift.
- No endless daily content and no feeds.
- No AI therapist, and no model that answers what you write with emotional or clinical interpretation.
- No automatic NOPE from sensors, location, mood, usage or inference.
How NOPECUBE brings you back
We do want NOPE to become a habit, and we say so openly. We will not be the ones calling you back; your own moments will. Some of these arrive in later versions.
- Triggers you set. The app notifies you only for appointments you set yourself, such as the closing bell.
- The same movement and the same NOPECUBE click, every time. A sensory pleasure, never a random reward.
- Loops you want closed. What you put in the cube comes back once, at the time you chose. In development for 0.7.
- A visible effect. If you turn it on, your boundary shows where the cube would sit: the lock screen and your wrist. It never shows what you wrote, and OPEN undoes all of it. Coming with 0.8, in development for internal testing. A quieter phone with NOPE Mode on Android is planned; it reaches testers only once it turns off reliably on every phone.
- A record that belongs to you. Off by default. It lists closures in both directions, with no numbers or totals, and never breaks. In development for 0.7.
How we offer a feature
- Each optional feature is offered once, in context, at the moment it would help, inside the screen you are on.
- The offer has two equally weighted answers: yes and “Not now”. Nothing is preselected.
- “Not now” is final. We will not ask again by notification, badge, update screen or “what’s new” page.
- No “turn everything on” screens. Every feature and every permission is asked for separately, and only when you say yes.
- A feature you declined stays in Settings under a clear name, so you can turn it on whenever you like.
What we will never count as success
- Daily active users, the number of opens or time spent in the app.
- Time spent in NOPE. Minutes in NOPE are never counted, so OPEN is never the losing choice.
- Consecutive days, or how often you open a notification.
What we care about is the number of loops closed each week: a NOPE you started at a moment of your choosing and ended deliberately, with OPEN or by planning, letting go of or answering what you set aside. Your device never totals them for you; if you keep your own record, it lists them there and nowhere else. We learn from pilots people agree to join, not from tracking.
Pricing principles
- The core is free, for good: the ritual, all four doors and what each door remembers, the closing bell and the other signals you turn on, the shortcuts and other ways in, the watch apps and sync.
- Protective features are never paid: OPEN, Undo, deleting your data, exporting it, turning notifications off, privacy settings and clearing any effect NOPE had.
- NOPE Guard would be free. Guard is an iPhone feature we are only exploring. It needs Apple’s approval and may never ship, and we promise no date. If it ships, it will be optional for each ritual, OPEN will always lift it, and we will describe it as a commitment aid that can break after an iOS update. You will not pay for it: Apple’s rules do not allow charging for Screen Time features, and protection is never paid.
- A subscription only for a real server cost. It could exist only for a documented, recurring server cost, and only for the feature that causes it.
- No weekly plans, and no trial that turns into a weekly charge.
- No billing in the app at version 1.0. Our income is meant to come from the cube. When it goes on sale, it will be sold on the web, never as an in-app purchase.
- Sales only in Settings, in About and on this site. Never at a ritual moment, in an offer or in a notification.
- A cube is never required. Later, anything a cube unlocks in the app will also be available to buy in the app, and functions that need the cube itself are free. Prices are fixed: no drops, seasonal or limited-time sales. Editions are alternatives, not upgrades, and the free default click stays as good as it is today. Regional prices, including Turkish lira.
How we talk about evidence
- We say “designed around”, never “proven”.
- Evidence is graded on our science page. NOPECUBE itself has not been studied.
- We never present numbers or effect sizes from other products or studies as NOPECUBE’s results.
- We do not use disorder terms as outcomes or to describe who NOPECUBE is for, and we make no sleep claims. NOPECUBE is not a treatment.
- NOPE does only what you connect, shows you what it did, and OPEN closes it. OPEN turns off what NOPECUBE itself set up, but it cannot undo what another app did.
Privacy and what others see
- No history unless you keep one.
- No analytics, advertising or crash-reporting SDK and no account. No server before version 1.0; after that, only stateless endpoints that hold no personal data.
- This website has no analytics scripts, tracking cookies or advertising pixels.
- Anything other people see is written in neutral language and never compares you. No usage data goes to an employer.
- The app never sends a message on your behalf.

Changelog
- 1.2 · 29 September 2026 · app 1.1 (draft). Principle 2 no longer calls the click metal; we describe the sound only as the NOPECUBE click. The list of mechanics we will never use is unchanged. App 1.1 is being built for internal testing and has no date. With it, every offer, such as the closing bell, comes only right after you close a loop on your device, never while NOPE runs, and at most one a day; the physical cube appears in the app only as one line at the end of Settings, under About, and on this site.
- 1.1 · 24 September 2026 · app 1.0 (draft). The pricing principles now list all eight rules we keep, including a free NOPE Guard and free functions for the cube. The list of mechanics we will never use is unchanged. This entry also sets out what changes with NOPECUBE 1.0, the first public release of the app. That part stays a draft until 1.0 is released, and it has no date:
- Languages (updated 28 September 2026): the app keeps all 13 languages it has today. English is the source. The Turkish text is waiting for review by a native Turkish writer, and the other eleven translations are drafts waiting for native speakers; being in the app does not mean they have been reviewed. This website is available in English.
- Science notes in the app: Settings will show the graded notes from our science page, starting with “NOPECUBE itself has not been studied.”
- Two kits: a Focus with NOPE on iPhone, and your own NFC tag on iPhone or Android. You set them up yourself; a tap on your tag counts as your choice, and you can undo it. We will publish the step-by-step guides once every step has been checked on real phones.
- No in-app purchases: the app has no billing at all. The physical cube appears only in Settings, under The cube, and on this site.
- 1.0 · 24 September 2026. First public version, published with the loop-closing direction and our healthy-return rules.
